Pumpkin Holler Gravel Smasher - a look at the course

The Pumpkin Holler Gravel Smasher race is coming up on October 18th. On Sunday, September 20th, several members from Team Suicide Prevention made the ~ 1 hr 20 min drive out to Eagle Bluff located on the banks of the Illinois River (Eagle Bluff Resort, 9800 HWY 10 northeast of Tahlequah, Oklahoma) to meet up with Kathy Bratton and her Tulsa RunnersWorld team to discuss event logistics and to ride the 30 mile loop. Whether you are new to gravel riding or if you are a seasoned racer, this scenic course offers a variety of fun and challenge. The event will feature a 30 mile, 60 mile, and 70 mile option.

30-mile cyclists will grind this loop just one time, so soak in the amazing scenery the first time. The 60-mile smashers will do two loops. For those taking the 70-mile challenge you will take a 10 mile out-and-back across J.T Nickel Preserve on your first loop.

Check out the video below for a close-up eyeball look at the gravel loop that makes up the race course.

An Update From the Race Directors:

The race directors are closely watching the COVID-19 pandemic and planning our precautions to limit the spread of coronavirus. We will follow the guidance of state and local officials, including the Tulsa Health Department. We will update this information if this guidance changes. At Pumpkin Holler Hunnerd and Gravel Smasher we will keep all activities outdoors, conduct on-site screenings (temperature, questionnaire), implement social distancing (including limiting crowd size), require masks in certain situations, and provide additional cleaning supplies and other precautions at our aid stations. We will provide specific instructions to all participants approximately one week prior to the race.
